European Flags
European flags cover international, country, and regional flags.1 Just as every state of the United States has a flag so does every country in Europe.1 In addition, there are groups of countries that have a common flag such as the Council of Europe, the European Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and so on.
Europe's oldest flag officially still in use represents Denmark.1 It dates from 1219, and is an off-centered white cross on a blood-red background.1 There is a full range of designs and colors in European vintage flags and each country or region has its own history reflected in the changing flags.1 1Some flags may use the same colors, and yet, the reason behind the use of each color is different. 1So many beautiful flags; so many stories!
