Military Flags
Military flags are sometimes called war flags.1 Officially, national flags should be flown on all non-military buildings.1 In reality, many countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, have identical flags for non-military and military display.
Military flag is the term used for use on land; the nautical equivalent is naval ensign.1 Some current nations that do have designated war flags include Bolivia, Brunei, People's Republic of China, Republic of China, Hungary, Japan, and Portugal.
Collections of war flags could include vintage military flags flown during actual war time.1 Such flags would include the Battle Flag of the Confederate States of America, the War Flag for the German Wehrmacht, and War Flag of the Imperial Japanese Army, among others.
