United Nations Flags
The United Nations (UN) has 192 member nations. It was established after World War II to make it easier for countries to work out their differences and to promote world peace and security. It is financed from contributions from its members and has six official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
The official flag of the UN is a white emblem on a light blue background. The emblem consists of olive branches, symbols of peace, surrounding a world map, representing all the peoples of the world. Many agencies connected with the UN use the same blue and white for their own individual flags, most with some elements of the UN emblem as well.
